Rounding Numbers

When rounding a number first identify the decimal place you are rounding to. For instance, one's place, ten's place, etc. Once you have accomplished this, identify the number immediately to the right of your decimal place.

For example, if you were given the number : 567.89 and asked to round it to the nearest one's place. You would first identify the number in the one's place to be "7". Then you would identify the number immediately to it's right, which in this case is "8". By the rules of rounding, since 8 is larger than 5, we round up one. This results in the number 567.89 being rounded to the nearest one's place, of 568.
